Waymo's Driver Understanding and Evaluation team builds metrics and tooling to assess how the Waymo Driver behaves on real roads. This staff engineering role leads architecture and hands-on work on agentic AI: multi-agent orchestration, tool execution, reasoning loops for event triage, LLM workflow frameworks, long-term memory with RAG and vector stores, and semantic routing. It asks for roughly 8+ years in large-scale distributed systems, deep applied LLM and multi-agent experience, prompt engineering, and mentoring. C++ and Python are preferred; AV simulation familiarity is a plus.
