Waymo's Planner/Perception Reliability team is hiring a staff engineer to keep the compute platforms behind its autonomous driver healthy. The work covers instrumentation and onboard architecture to prevent and debug reliability problems, mitigating hardware faults and numerical instability across CPU, TPU and GPU, and building diagnostics for deadlocks, memory corruption and tail latency. It asks for C++ and GPU/TPU experience, ideally writing and debugging GPU kernels, and offers influence over next-generation hardware design.
