Cohere's Model Efficiency team is hiring a staff research engineer to improve how fast and efficiently its foundation models run in production. The work covers model architecture and mixture-of-experts routing, decoding and inference-time algorithms, software/hardware co-design for GPU acceleration, and performance gains without losing model quality. The posting seeks a PhD in machine learning or a related field, deep LLM-architecture knowledge, constrained-inference optimization experience, strong software engineering, and top-conference publications. The team is concentrated in Eastern and Pacific time zones; the role can be remote.
