Waymo is hiring a staff data scientist in its driving-quality and scope-expansion data science group, reporting to the Data Science Lead. The role covers weather: building pipelines and models from first-, second- and third-party weather data, measuring how the Waymo Driver performs in fog, rain, snow, ice, hail and flooding, and reshaping operational responses to bad weather across territories. Candidates need a quantitative degree, eight years with a PhD or twelve without, spatio-temporal modelling, technical leadership, and Python, R or SQL. Pay is $251,000–$310,000.
