Scale AI seeks a Staff Applied AI Engineer for its Global Public Sector team in London, working on site full-time at a senior level. The role sets standards for responsible AI, model governance, evaluation methodologies, and production MLOps, builds and validates high-risk AI systems, architects agent implementations and fine-tuned models, resolves severe model safety or data integrity incidents, and advises client leadership on AI strategy. It also involves coaching Senior Applied AI Engineers and helping recruit. Requirements include 7+ years of engineering experience, multi-year ownership of production AI/ML systems, data quality judgment, adaptation method selection, fine-tuning evaluation, serving cost and latency trade-offs, and regulated or on-premise deployment experience. Some UK assignments require BPSS screening and may require SC or DV clearance.
