Databricks is hiring a senior engineering manager to lead the team behind AI Runtime, its API for training and fine-tuning deep learning and LLM models on on-demand GPUs. The job covers the customer-facing product and its foundations: distributed training orchestration, cluster lifecycle, fault tolerance and training efficiency. Candidates need 8+ years in software engineering, 3+ in management, and familiarity with managed GPU training across hundreds to thousands of GPUs, distributed frameworks such as PyTorch and DeepSpeed, parallelism strategies, checkpointing and failure recovery, and NCCL-level performance work.
