Cursor is hiring a mid-level software engineer for its RL Data team in San Francisco. The team owns training data: the tasks models get, how they are scored, and the environments they learn in. Work includes designing task sets for a specific capability and iterating from traces and evals, digging into agent traces to find failure modes, and turning one-off recipes into reusable rewards and environments. It asks for strong engineering fundamentals, an infra, data, or distributed systems background, and comfort making fuzzy capabilities measurable; RL experience is a plus.
