OpenAI's Platform Systems team builds the infrastructure that trains its flagship models on custom supercomputers. The engineer will design distributed failure-detection, tracing and profiling systems for large-scale training jobs, build tooling that flags slow or faulty nodes, improve observability and performance, and debug high-throughput systems alongside infrastructure and research teams. The posting asks for low-level systems experience and familiarity with hardware, operating systems, networking, concurrency and distributed systems; high-performance computing backgrounds are welcome.
