xAI seeks a software engineer for platform infrastructure, on-site in Palo Alto and full-time. The work is a large-scale distributed system that backs a very large supercomputing cluster: profiling and optimizing across GPUs, the Linux kernel, networking and filesystems, and co-designing hardware, software and algorithms for AI training. Requirements include systems programming in C, C++ or Rust, computer systems fundamentals, and hands-on Kubernetes work covering CNI, CSI, service mesh and production operations. Listed pay is $180,000–$440,000 USD.
