OpenAI's Applied Engineering team is hiring software engineers for its observability product. The person owns distributed logging, time series and trace storage, builds AI-native tools such as agents that summarize incidents and auto-generate dashboards, and contributes to dashboard and interactive debugging UIs. The posting asks for production experience running large-scale distributed systems, strength in systems, networking and cloud infrastructure such as Kubernetes and AWS, and full-stack or product instincts. Prometheus or OpenTelemetry work is a bonus. The team builds both infrastructure and an internal AI application.
