OpenAI's Frontier Systems Foundations group, part of Compute Foundations, is hiring a systems software engineer to build the Linux host stack for large GPU training clusters. The work covers Ubuntu images, kernel configuration and modules, drivers, packages, disks and boot, firmware integration, provisioning, and system-level validation, plus canary, rollback and recovery paths. It asks for significant production Linux experience, depth in at least one of kernels, drivers, image or package engineering, boot or provisioning, or firmware integration. The role works with hardware engineers and vendors to bring up new platforms.
