OpenAI's Cooperative AI team runs a model-powered knowledge system for internal and external customers. This backend engineer designs, builds and maintains services and APIs, and structures data from internal platforms into formats that AI workflows can use, working with product and research teams to put OpenAI models into high-leverage workflows. The posting asks for four or more years of backend engineering at product companies, plus Python, FastAPI, Postgres and experience scaling distributed systems or data pipelines. Hands-on ML experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
