Waymo's Onboard organization seeks a lead site reliability engineer reporting to the Head of Planner. The role covers incident response, retrospectives, on-call rotations, disaster recovery, capacity planning and observability for the production systems behind the company's autonomous ride-hail service and release pipeline. It asks for a master's or PhD, ten or more years on large-scale production software, especially machine-learned systems, and ten or more years of hands-on C++. Preferred: leading hybrid hardware/software systems, teams working on large models, and change in 1000-plus-person engineering organizations.
