Waymo's Hardware Engineering group needs an engineer to decide where cameras, LiDAR and radar go on current and future vehicle platforms. The work is geometric analysis of sensor placement, defining multi-modal layouts that meet perception requirements, refining internal analysis tools, and coordinating with mechanical design, packaging, industrial design and product teams. Required: a bachelor's in mechanical, mechatronics or physics; five to ten years in automotive or aerospace and defence; multi-modal sensing knowledge; large CAD assemblies, preferably CATIA. Pay is $196,000–$242,000, with domestic travel up to 10%.
