Waymo is hiring a senior individual contributor to rethink how it evaluates and improves the Waymo Driver, since driving sets and metrics cannot keep pace with growth in vehicles, cities and conditions. The role means designing, shipping and running production agentic AI systems, and building automated evaluation frameworks and objective metrics for non-deterministic agents. The posting asks for a CS degree or equivalent, 7+ years in software engineering, hands-on work with autonomous agents, multi-agent orchestration and LLM tool use, plus technical leadership. A PhD, C++ and simulation experience are preferred.
