Waymo's Planner Evaluation team is hiring a senior software engineer to measure how well the autonomous driving software performs. The work is building signals and metrics from real-world driving logs and simulation, using statistics, physics, algorithms and machine learning, and linking onboard software changes to simulated outcomes. It asks for a quantitative degree, two to three years in large codebases with C++, Python and SQL, and data pipelines; ML and A/B experiment experience are preferred. The role is hybrid, reporting to an engineering manager. Pay is $204,000–$259,000.
