Waymo's Maneuvering Tech group builds the driving behavior that keeps its autonomous cars safe, smooth and predictable to other road users — merging, negotiating narrow roads, deciding under noisy or incomplete information. The engineer frames open-ended road scenarios as engineering problems, builds algorithms, tools and evaluation methods, scales them to large data pipelines and fits them to run in real time on the cars. Requirements: a BS in CS, ML or robotics or equivalent, five-plus years of efficient C++, and cross-team collaboration; a master's, motion planning or ML-system experience preferred.
