LangChain's SmithDB team is hiring a senior systems engineer for its internal database, a storage and query layer built for AI observability and evaluation data. The person will write Rust for ingestion and query execution, work on storage layout, compaction, cost and speed optimization through CPU and memory profiling, integrate with S3, GCS and Azure Blob, and run multi-tenant services on Kubernetes. The posting wants 5+ years in systems or database engineering, Rust strongly preferred. It's on-site in San Francisco, a greenfield system with no legacy constraints.
