Anthropic's Life Sciences team is hiring a medicinal chemist for its San Francisco Bay Area lab, on-site. The role designs multi-step synthetic routes for small molecules, oversees purification and characterization (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC), coordinates synthesis and biological evaluation with contract research organizations, and tests AI-designed molecules and AI-proposed routes against real experiments, feeding results back to AI researchers. A PhD in chemistry and sustained hands-on medicinal chemistry experience are required; Python or cheminformatics skills are preferred. Pay is $300,000–$320,000.
