Shield AI is hiring a principal software engineer for Special Projects, a senior group inside the CTO's office. The team owns no products; it embeds with product teams or works independently to build reference implementations, contributing to Hivemind: EdgeOS middleware, Pilot autonomy, Forge (the AI factory for designing, developing and testing edge systems) and Commander operator interfaces. The codebases span C++, Go, Python and TypeScript/React; the team draws engineers from aerospace, robotics, cloud infrastructure, game development and interactive media design. Hybrid, US-based.
