Anthropic's Safeguards organization is hiring a Policy Design Manager to own its conventional weapons policy. The role defines where Claude should and should not support weapons-related activity, builds threat models and evaluations of model contributions to weapons development, and works with engineering on guardrails, detection, and enforcement. The person serves as subject-matter expert for escalations and engages external, government, and industry experts. The posting seeks deep weapons-systems expertise, precise policy writing, knowledge of weapons and transfer law, and open-source technical analysis. Preferred: ML/LLM fundamentals, weapons-relevant engineering, arms export controls, and classifier evaluation.
