Waymo's Perception team is hiring a machine learning engineer to build the closed-loop systems that keep perception models improving as the fleet meets new road conditions. The work covers large-scale sensor-data pipelines, active learning for selecting training examples, curation through balancing, pruning and downsampling, and evaluation methods including ground-truth-free metrics and regression detection for rare, safety-critical scenarios. Requirements include a bachelor's degree in ML, robotics or computer science, three or more years of professional ML or computer vision experience, production active-learning work, pipeline expertise, and Python with PyTorch or JAX.
