Waymo's AI Foundations team is hiring a mid-level machine learning engineer to develop foundation-model recipes for autonomous driving. The work covers reinforcement learning, learning from demonstration, generative modeling, Bayesian inference and robust evaluation, plus large-scale data and evaluation pipelines and getting research into production. Applicants need a master's degree or equivalent experience, Python, familiarity with PyTorch, JAX or TensorFlow, and prior work developing ML recipes in industry or research. The role reports to a senior research scientist and is hybrid, based across four US cities.
