Modal is hiring a Member of Technical Staff for its machines layer, the fleet of bare metal and cloud hosts behind its serverless platform. The work covers automating new hardware capacity, benchmarking hosts, maintaining machine images, configuring GPUs, RDMA, networking and storage, and building automation that detects faulty GPUs, thermals and disks. Requirements include five or more years of production coding, hands-on physical hardware or control-plane experience, strong Linux low-level knowledge, and on-call participation. GPU and Go experience are nice-to-haves.
