Perplexity is hiring AI research scientists and engineers to post-train the large language models behind its Sonar models, Deep Research agent, Comet agent and search products. Work falls into one of three teams: core research on base models, agent products, or the Comet agent. Duties include SFT, DPO and GRPO post-training, reinforcement learning, preference optimisation, and owning data, training and evaluation pipelines built on Megatron and PyTorch. The posting asks for Python and PyTorch experience, large-scale LLM work, and two to six years on relevant projects.
