xAI is hiring a Hardware Failure Analysis Engineer for its Memphis data center. The work covers reviewing firmware packages and hardware specifications, running security and CVE scanning, diagnosing hardware failures including intermittent "grey" ones, filing RMA claims and negotiating with vendors, building monitoring scripts and tools, and documenting root causes and reliability models. Requirements include a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent, two or more years in hardware reliability, Python or Bash scripting plus one systems language, and familiarity with servers, GPUs and networking equipment. On-call rotation is part of the job; AI/ML infrastructure experience is preferred.
