OpenAI's Preparedness team, part of Safety Systems, is hiring a data scientist to improve the mitigations that prevent harms from frontier models. The work covers classifier and detection pipelines in biosecurity, cybersecurity and emerging risk areas, false positive and false negative analysis, and monitoring frameworks that track mitigation effectiveness over time. The posting asks for significant data science or applied analytics experience in high-stakes settings, SQL and Python fluency, and experimentation or causal inference skills. Cybersecurity data science experience is a strong preference; trust and safety is helpful, not required.
