Amazon's Customer360 team in Seattle is hiring an Applied Scientist to build contextual retrieval and generative AI systems that personalize Amazon experiences. The work covers inventing retrieval and relevance-scoring methods, fine-tuning and evaluating language models, running experiments on customer impact, and shipping low-latency production systems serving over 1,500 requests per second. Candidates need a PhD, or a master's with four years' experience, plus three years building models, programming in Python, Java or C++, experiment design, and publications. The role spans research through deployment and mentoring team members.
