Waymo's Human Behavior Analytics team, part of its Safety group, is hiring a 2027 summer PhD intern to research computational models of road user behavior for evaluating the Waymo Driver. The intern surveys digital neuroscience and mechanistic interpretability work, builds models capturing aspects of human driving such as collision avoidance or visual behavior, and explores how those models' internal mechanisms can be explained.
