Waymo's AI Foundations team is hiring a PhD intern for summer 2027 to work on behavior post-training for autonomous driving. The intern will build tools to sample and filter synthetic driving data, train and evaluate models using synthetic and logged data, and present the methods. The posting asks for a PhD in progress in computer science, machine learning, robotics, electrical engineering or a related field, post-training experience with SFT and RL, and PyTorch or Jax. The internship is hybrid onsite in Mountain View or San Francisco and pays $85 hourly.
