A 2027 summer internship on Waymo's software engineering team in Mountain View, working on perception foundation models for autonomous driving. The intern will analyze internal feature representations of deep multimodal perception models, build active learning and data curation methods to surface rare, safety-critical cases, explore automated labeling with vision-language models, and train and evaluate networks on large sensor datasets and in simulation. Candidates must be enrolled in a PhD in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering or a related quantitative field, with Python and C++, and hands-on experience training deep learning models.
