Waymo's Perception team in Mountain View hires a summer intern to build models that represent the world around the self-driving car. The intern designs and implements multi-modality (camera, radar, lidar, audio) and multi-task perception models — areas include 3D detection and tracking, open-vocabulary detection, 3D occupancy, semantic segmentation, foundation models and self-supervised pre-training — then trains and evaluates them on Waymo driving logs. Applicants must be in a PhD program, or a master's with publications, know Python, and have built models in JAX, PyTorch or TensorFlow. Top-conference publications are preferred.
