A 2027 summer internship on Waymo's embedded software team, which writes safety-critical code at the edge of the autonomous driver, interfacing with steering, braking, propulsion, power and sensors under real-time, fail-operational constraints. Interns build C++ for on-vehicle firmware and off-vehicle simulation tooling, help bring up and debug new compute platforms and peripheral drivers, and write gTest unit tests and software-in-the-loop fixtures. Applicants must be enrolled in a BS or MS program and know C or C++, data structures, memory management, Linux and Git.
