The Elastic London User Group runs an evening of two technical talks at Elastic's London office. Amir Hossein Rassafi, head of platform at Condukt, describes migrating a fuzzy name search from PostgreSQL's pg_trgm to Elasticsearch after growing latency and database pressure, covering n-gram, prefix, keyword and shingle techniques, validation with real queries and synthetic typo cases, replication, checkpointing and replayable indexing. Antonio Morais, a machine learning engineer at Elastic, then shows a pipeline that turns a folder of scanned documents into a searchable index: Jina OCR extracts the text, Omni v5 embeds image and text in one vector space, and Reranker v3.5 ranks pages, all on Elastic Inference Service. Seats are first come, first served.
