The first session of the Building and Marketing AI Applications Meetup walks through a working Gmail agent: it watches selected messages, reads the thread, understands the request, drafts a reply and labels it for human review rather than sending on its own. The organizers break down the architecture, covering Pydantic AI, Gmail API integration, structured model outputs, tool and permission boundaries, approval steps, run history and failure handling, and isolated execution via Firecracker microVMs. The framing is less about whether a demo works and more about what makes an agent safe to connect to email, databases or business systems. Builders, founders, engineers and product teams experimenting with agents are invited to question the design.
