Vals AI, an independent evaluator of frontier models, hosts a half-day public sector summit. Three panels examine what makes an AI system safe for young people, what the US should agree to in AI talks with China, and independent evaluation of AI under the FRONTIER Act. Congressional staffers, a former assistant secretary of commerce and policy researchers speak, with moderators from Vals AI. Vals AI researchers present posters on AI child safety, cybersecurity and environmental impact, followed by a reception. Around 100 policymakers, agency leaders, researchers and advocates are expected.
