Sovereign AI Club holds its first public meetup, shared through Austin Computer Club and Bitcoin Park Austin. A host brings recent AI news and research, and the group works through it Socratically — asking questions, checking sources, and comparing experiences rather than sitting through talks. The focus is local AI and open models: locally run LLMs, open-source tools, downloadable weights, self-hosting and privacy, plus the tradeoffs between convenience and control. The second half is open for member projects and questions.
