Priors, a Boston robotics research group, hosts the second lecture in its series. Seth Hutchinson, a Northeastern professor, examines robotics problems where data-driven methods are expensive, slow or dangerous, and presents model-based alternatives in flapping flight, soft continuum robots, a cable-driven graffiti-painting robot and safe mobile manipulation around people. He also considers where learned tools can improve those methods. A 40-minute talk is followed by 15 minutes of Q&A and networking, for researchers and developers working on world models, VLAs, diffusion policies, tactile sensing, teleoperation, manipulation or online RL.
