R-Ladies Rome runs a two-hour online workshop on supervised machine learning in epidemiology with R, led by actuary and data scientist Federica Gazzelloni. It follows the whole workflow: framing a question as a prediction task, then logistic regression as a baseline, decision trees and random forests with mlr3. Evaluation gets particular attention — cross-validation, sensitivity, specificity, ROC/AUC — along with the difference between prediction, inference and causation. Aimed at R users in epidemiology, public health or health data; basic R helps, no machine-learning experience is required.
