Week 3 of a seven-week AI engineering program run by Build & Learn: AI with Coffee, meeting in a Berlin coffeeshop. The hands-on session covers the backend layers of a modern AI application: building APIs with FastAPI and validating them with Pydantic, containerizing with Docker, using PostgreSQL for storage, managing configuration and secrets through environment variables, and understanding MCP servers. Participants bring laptops and either follow the shared project or apply each week's concepts to their own, aiming for a working AI application in their own GitHub repository and a demo day in week 7. No prior LLM or AI engineering experience is required, though basic programming experience is recommended. Organizers note that future events move to Luma.
