Steve Brunton — Eigensteve, UW data-driven engineering

Steve Brunton is UW's Boeing Professor in AI and Data-Driven Engineering and the Eigensteve channel, teaching linear algebra, control and machine learning.

Steve Brunton is the Boeing Professor in AI & Data-Driven Engineering at the University of Washington, an adjunct professor of applied mathematics there and a data science fellow at UW's eScience Institute. He took a BS in mathematics at Caltech in 2006 and a PhD in mechanical and aerospace engineering at Princeton in 2012. His research combines dimensionality reduction, sparse sensing and machine learning for the data-driven discovery and control of complex dynamical systems, with applications in fluid dynamics, bio-locomotion and renewable energy. Known online as Eigensteve, he turns university courses — linear algebra, Fourier analysis, machine learning, data-driven modelling — into short video lessons, 585 of them so far. He wrote Data-Driven Science and Engineering with J. Nathan Kutz, now in its second edition.
