Santiago Valdarrama is a computer scientist who says he wrote his first line of code in 1994, in what he thinks was Turbo Pascal, and has spent more than 30 years building software. He holds a master's from Georgia Tech specialising in machine learning, and has built systems for Disney, Boston Dynamics, IBM, Dell, G4S, Anheuser-Busch, HP and NextEra Energy. He teaches production-focused machine learning at ml.school, a paid course of six live sessions over three weeks covering project planning, model choice and evaluation, deployment, serving predictions, monitoring, retraining and agentic systems. He started the programme in March 2023 and says more than 2,000 students have graduated from it. Under the handle @svpino he has 455,890 followers on X. He also runs a YouTube channel, Underfitted, opened in February 2011.
