Sanja Fidler co-founded Veeda AI, the Toronto world-model startup that raised over $90m in 2026, and is reported as its chief executive. She teaches at U of T.

Sanja Fidler co-founded Veeda AI, the Toronto company incorporated in June 2026 - the Globe and Mail reports her as its chief executive officer - to build multimodal foundation world models that simulate physical reality, so embodied agents can learn by interacting with a simulation. It raised more than $90 million in seed funding co-led by Khosla Ventures and Radical Ventures in August 2026, and works from Toronto, Zurich, the Bay Area and Singapore, with Zan Gojcic as chief technology officer and Huan Ling as chief scientist. She remains an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Toronto, is affiliated faculty at the Vector Institute and one of its co-founding members, and holds a Canada CIFAR AI Chair. Until 2026 she was Vice President of AI Research at NVIDIA, where she built and led the company's Toronto lab from 2018. Originally from Slovenia, she took a BSc in applied mathematics and a PhD at the University of Ljubljana, finishing in 2010 in Ales Leonardis's group, then did postdoctoral work with Sven Dickinson at Toronto and spent 2012-13 as a Research Assistant Professor at the Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago.
