Rowan Cheung - founder of The Rundown AI

Rowan Cheung founded The Rundown, an AI newsletter with more than two million readers, after dropping out of university. Forbes 30 Under 30 Education 2026.

Rowan Cheung grew up in Burnaby, British Columbia, to a Swiss mother and a Hong Kong father. He swam competitively, started at Simon Fraser University in 2019 and transferred to the University of Victoria swim team in 2020, then dropped out in 2021 and taught himself code, design, UI/UX and marketing from YouTube. He started The Rundown in 2023 and grew it from viral posts on X, where his following went from 1,000 to 500,000 in a year and won Tweethunter's "Fastest-Growing Account on Twitter" award. The Rundown AI now states more than two million readers and has produced interviews with Mark Zuckerberg, Satya Nadella, Sam Altman, Demis Hassabis and Sundar Pichai. Cheung has since added The Rundown University, an online course platform, alongside Tech and Robotics editions of the newsletter. Forbes put him on its 30 Under 30 Education list for 2026. He moved to Switzerland in 2025.
