Jeremy Howard is founding CEO of Answer.AI and a co-founder of fast.ai and Virgil. With Sebastian Ruder he created ULMFiT, the 2018 transfer-learning method.

Jeremy Howard is an Australian data scientist and entrepreneur, founding CEO of Answer.AI — the R&D lab he started with Eric Ries, maker of Solveit — and a co-founder of fast.ai, which joined Answer.AI in November 2024. With Sebastian Ruder he created ULMFiT, the 2018 transfer-learning method behind the pretrain-then-fine-tune recipe later used by BERT and GPT. He was founding CEO of Enlitic, an early deep-learning company for medical imaging, and president and chief scientist of Kaggle, where he ranked top in machine learning contests in 2010 and 2011. He also co-founded Virgil, a technology-led legal and back-office services firm for startups. He is based in Brisbane.
