Jensen Huang co-founded NVIDIA in 1993 and, in the words of the company's annual report filed in February 2026, "has served as our President, Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors since our inception". Born in Taiwan in 1963, he holds a BSEE from Oregon State University and an MSEE from Stanford, and worked as a microprocessor designer at AMD from 1983 to 1985 and at LSI Logic from 1985 to 1993. NVIDIA invented the GPU in 1999 for game graphics; the same parallel hardware became the standard platform for training and running AI models, and on 29 October 2025 NVIDIA passed a $5 trillion market capitalisation, the first public company to do so. Huang shared the 2025 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering with Yoshua Bengio, Bill Dally, Geoffrey Hinton, John Hopfield, Yann LeCun and Fei-Fei Li, for modern machine learning. In January 2026 IEEE named him the recipient of its 2026 Medal of Honor, which carries a $2 million prize, for accelerated computing. He has also received the Semiconductor Industry Association's Robert N. Noyce Award and the IEEE Founder's Medal, and been elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
