Ethan Mollick is an associate professor at Wharton, co-directs its Generative AI Labs, wrote Co-Intelligence and Co-Existence, and writes One Useful Thing.

Ethan Mollick is an American academic and writer who studies the effects of artificial intelligence on work, entrepreneurship and education. Born in 1975, he graduated magna cum laude from Harvard in 1997 and took an MBA and a PhD from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 2004 and 2010. At the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania he is the Ralph J. Roberts Distinguished Faculty Scholar, a Rowan Fellow and an associate professor of management, and he co-directs Wharton’s Generative AI Labs. He wrote “Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI” (2024), a New York Times bestseller and a book of the year at The Economist and the Financial Times, which argues for treating AI as a collaborator rather than a tool. Its successor, “Co-Existence: The Next Phase of AI”, is published by Portfolio on 20 October 2026. He was named to TIME’s 100 most influential people in AI in 2024 and to the TIME100 Creators list in July 2026. His newsletter “One Useful Thing” publishes plain-language analysis of generative AI for work and education, and lists more than 476,000 subscribers.
