Cassie Kozyrkov — CEO of Kozyr, decision intelligence

Cassie Kozyrkov runs the AI advisory firm Kozyr. She was Google's first Chief Decision Scientist until September 2023 and founded decision intelligence.

Cassie Kozyrkov was born in Saint Petersburg and grew up in South Africa, where she started university at 15 at Nelson Mandela University. Her own site lists degrees in economics, mathematical statistics, psychology and neuroscience from the University of Chicago, North Carolina State University and Duke, where she took an A.M. in 2012. She joined Google in 2014 as a statistician, moved to the Office of the CTO in 2016, and in 2018 became the company's first Chief Decision Scientist. By her own account she trained more than 20,000 Googlers in AI and data-driven decision-making and worked on more than 500 company initiatives. She founded the field she calls decision intelligence. She left in September 2023, after a decade, and explained why in a post titled "Why I quit my job as Google's Chief Decision Scientist". She is now CEO of Kozyr, an AI advisory firm whose clients her site names as including NASA, Gucci, Spotify and Meta. She writes the Decision Intelligence newsletter on Substack, publishes explainers on her YouTube channel, guest-lectures to Harvard Business School executive MBA students and advises boards. Duke's Graduate School inducted her into its Few-Glasson Alumni Society in September 2024.
