Workato was founded in 2013 by Vijay Tella, Gautham Viswanathan and Harish Shetty. The company provides a cloud-based integration and automation platform for connecting applications, data sources and business processes. Its platform includes low-code workflow automation, prebuilt connectors, reusable recipes, API management, data orchestration and AI-agent capabilities. Workato announced a $70 million Series C round in 2019, a $110 million Series D round at a $1.7 billion valuation on September 8, 2021, and a $200 million Series E round at a $5.7 billion valuation on November 10, 2021. The Series E financing supported international expansion and product development and was associated with Workato's acquisition of RailsData. Workato currently positions its platform as an enterprise AI control and execution layer, including Enterprise MCP capabilities that govern AI-agent access to systems, data and actions.
