Wolt

Wolt develops a local-commerce platform that connects people looking to order food, groceries and other goods with people interested in selling and delivering them.

Wolt was founded by six co-founders in Helsinki in 2014, including Miki Kuusi. Its first version launched in 2015 with restaurant pickup, followed by restaurant delivery later that year. Wolt connects consumers, merchants and couriers through a local-commerce platform. Its technology includes local logistics, retail software, financial solutions and merchant integrations, and it operates grocery stores under the Wolt Market brand. Wolt announced a €137 million financing round in June 2019 and a $530 million financing round in January 2021. DoorDash completed its all-stock acquisition of Wolt Enterprises Oy in 2022. Wolt’s consumer app continues to operate separately, and Wolt maintains its brand and operations in its markets.
